KYOBASHI ART WALL Group Exhibition Vol.2

Toda Corporation is pleased to present a group exhibition of works by artists selected for Kyobashi Art Wall: Start the Future from Here, a program that supported emerging artists by using the temporary enclosure of the Toda Building, which was under construction from 2021 to 2024, as an exhibition space.

Vol. 2 features four artists (Kato Ryu, Okuyama Hiroki, Sakamoto Entertainment, and Sasano Hachiro) whose works invoke the presence of others, bringing narratives.

INFORMATION

KATO Ryu

Born in Aichi in 1979. Graduated from the Department of Architecture, Tokyo University of the Arts in 2003, and currently lives and works in Tokyo. Major exhibitions and awards include The Constitution of Japan 2024 (Aoyama Meguro), Art Fair Beppu 2024, Future Portrait (solo exhibition at Yokohama Civic Art Gallery, 2024), the 2023 ACY Artist Fellowship, the 2023 Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art Collection Exhibition (Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art), and selection for the 24th Taro Okamoto Award for Contemporary Art for his work Beholder in 2021.

OKUYAMA Hiroki

Born in Hokkaido in 1982. Graduated from Tama Art University in 2008. He subsequently worked at a photography studio, and has been a freelance artist since 2010. Okuyama views creation as both a process of discovery and a way to fill gaps and compensate for deficiencies. He primarily produces paintings and two-dimensional works employing photography.

SAKAMOTO ENTERTAINMENT

Born in Kumamoto Prefecture in 1997. Graduated from Tama Art University (Department of Integrated Design) in 2020. Practice involves investigating materials, reexamining the world from innovative perspectives and incorporating the resulting insights into art and design. Sakamoto Entertainment was selected for the Shibuya Awards in 2021, was a finalist for the muni Art Award in 2022, and was selected for Art Olympia and the Changting Gallery Exhibition.

SASANO Hachiro

Born in Hyogo in 1958. Sasano focuses on moments from daily life that unexpectedly capture his attention and reflects them in his works. His practice is driven by the hope that new worlds will emerge across various boundaries, exploring questions such as: Why did this catch my interest? How might others perceive this? Is it possible to share my impressions with others?
